ROWE (Results-Only Work Environment) is a human resource management strategy originally piloted at Best Buy, wherein employees are paid for results (output) rather than the number of hours worked. The executives at Best Buy who proposed the strategy have since started a consulting group called CultureRx. The strategy has subsequently been implemented at a second large American retailer, Gap.
ROWE in practice means "each person is free to do whatever they want, whenever they want as long as the work gets done." Employees control their own calendars, and are not required to be in the office if they can complete their tasks elsewhere.
